There are several outdoor event spaces for rent
in the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens for occasions such as wedding
ceremonies, catered business events, private gatherings such as
graduation celebrations and family reunions, and catered academic
functions, such as conference receptions. The Arboretum does
not rent venues for wedding receptions.
Our primary rental season is from May 16 through September 30
because strong winds are prevalent outside these dates. If you
wish to rent any of the event venues in April, the first half
of May, and October you may do so with the understanding that
you are responsible for procuring an alternate indoor venue if
inclement weather threatens your comfort or safety in the botanic
gardens. We do not rent garden venues from November through March.
CATERERS and RENTAL COMPANIES
If the services of a caterer will be required for your event,
you may choose to hire Penn
State Hospitality Services, Penn
State Campus Catering, or a caterer from Penn State's list
caterers. Caterers can often recommend local rental companies
that can provide furnishings. All furnishings for events held
in the Arboretum must be provided by a professional rental company.
